I’ve shot shotguns my whole life. First my dads, then my husbands. We had a clay thrower growing up and I thought it was a pretty fun activity. After shooting 10 or 20 times though I would be banged up and bruised. I thought it was just part of it. WRONG!! When I was invited to shoot with the gals of Passionate Outlaws I had reservations because the thought of shooting more than a couple rounds seemed daunting. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING
I wasn't sure what to expect; all my shotgun experiences have been through the lens of the men in my life - my dad, my brother and then my husband - both shooting and purchasing. It has been one of those things - I enjoy it enough to do it, but it has always felt like I was putting on a shoe that wasn't quite my size. This all changed when I met (begrudingly) with Tracy. She showed me the guns, she tested my dominant eye, checked my sizing, etc. And put me in a left-handed shotgun. I am right-handed, I have shot righty all my life, and this just blew my mind. I could tell right away this was a change that needed to happen - immediately, I was more comfortable mounting and sighting. It took a few times to really get used to it, which was frustrating at first. But now, I am shooting better than I ever had as a righty. Shawna is the Captain of the Women’s Trap League in Missoula Montana; and an active member, sponsor and club liaison for the Montana State Women’s Trap League. She has been an invaluable asset in supporting and growing both leagues for the benefit of women shooters! 

Shawna currently shoots a Syren Tempio Trap Gun, and loves it!  She is motivated by helping other women enjoy shooting sports and knows a shotgun that fits a woman is part of that equation.
